New Airport For Bangkok
The long awaited new Bangkok international airport is scheduled to open on September 28th 2006. Situated to the east of Bangkok, the new Suvarnabhumi (pronounced Su-wan-na-poom) airport will replace the old airport at Don Muang and will be the hub for both international and domestic flights.
At the time of writing, I don’t have full details of the onward transport arrangements from the new airport to downtown Bangkok and beyond. There will still be an airport bus which will run various routes to the major Bangkok hotel areas (Silom, Sukhumvit, Khao San Road etc.) And of course there will be the usual taxis and limousines. As I get a better idea of prices being charged I will post them on the site.
