Hua Hin Jazz Festival, 2008
The Hua Hin Jazz Festival has been going since 2002 and this year is expected to attract over 60,000 visitors to the seaside resort south of Bangkok. With a line up of international and local musicians, the Hua Hin Jazz Festival has become a well-established event attracting tourists from all over Thailand as well as overseas.
The dates for this year’s festival are June 13th-14th. The music starts mid-afternoon at 15.30 and goes on until after midnight. There are 3 custom-built stages: one on the beach-front near the Sofitel Hotel; one near the train station; one at the Phone Kingpet shopping complex. Entrance to the event is free and there are dozens of places that set up near the venues for festival-goers to buy food and drink.
The beach-side stage in front of the Sofitel Hotel tends to attract the largest crowds with deck chairs and mats being laid out on the beach. It’s probably best to pre-book accommodation if you want to be in the town centre or close to the beach.
