With the current closure of Bangkok’s international airport, visitors due to fly to Bangkok are advised to contact their airline or tour operator. Nobody knows when Bangkok airport will re-open, but airlines and tour operators will be able to advise travellers whether tickets can be re-arranged or refunded. In such circumstances, airlines will normally let you use the tickets at a later date or re-route you to an alternative airport. Some airlines are re-routing to other airports in Thailand including Phuket, Chiang Mai and U-Tapao (a military airport near Pattaya).
It’s also worth keeping an eye on your particular government’s travel advisories for Thailand. Initially, most governments were not warning against travel to Thailand although that has been changing during the course of the day and as such, this may have a bearing on travel insurance policies and airline procedures.
