Ten people died when a bus veered off the road and hit an electricity pole in Thailand’s southern Surat Thani province. The bus was en-route from Bangkok to Ko Pha Ngan when the accident occurred around dawn this morning. It’s believed the driver may have lost control of the vehicle following a tyre blow-out. Seventeen people were also injured and a number of those remain in a serious condition in hospital.
Sadly, bus accidents are all too common in Thailand, but according to the local media this particular vehicle was operated by Transport Company who have a good reputation. The first-class bus, carrying a mix of Thai and foreign passengers, had departed Bangkok on Monday evening.
