Flash Flood Tragedy in Khao Sok National Park
Eight people were killed yesterday as a flash flood poured into a cave they were exploring in Khao Sok National Park in southern Thailand. Six foreign tourists and their two Thai guides lost their lives as the water level rapidly rose following heavy rain in Surat Thani province.
Khao Sok National Park is a popular tourist attraction located in between the Andaman and Gulf Coasts. Easily accessible from Khao Lak, Phuket, Krabi and Surat Thani, the park’s rainforest and jungle are home to a huge variety of wildlife. The caves and waterfalls are all part of the attraction which tempts tourists away from the southern beaches.
