Key Red Shirt Leader To Surrender

A key red shirt leader, Jatuporn Promphan, has announced he will surrender to the police amid local reports that a number of the other protest leaders will also surrender. At least one red leader, Nuthawut Saikua, has vowed he will not leave the protest area.

The situation in Bangkok is improving all the time and the security forces have secured large areas of the protest zone. Free transport is being arranged for the hundreds of protesters who didn’t get involved in any fighting and who are now being encouraged to return to their home provinces. However, there are still some militant protesters who continue to engage with security forces around the perimeter of the protest zone. Numerous fires have been set and there have been threats to destroy buildings in the area as the security operation continues.
