Phuket Plane Crash

A plane carrying over 100 people has crashed today at Phuket airport whilst trying to land in bad weather. Heavy rain and strong winds may have contributed to the accident, but early reports on the number of casualties have been conflicting. Pictures from Thai television show the extent of damage to the One-Two-Go craft which, according to reports, broke into two after skidding off the runway and impacting.

One-Two-Go are one of Thailand’s established low-cost carriers and the airline is popular with both locals and foreign tourists. Today’s ill-fated flight was OG269 and originated from Bangkok’s Don Muang airport at 14.30 local time.
