Solar Eclipse is Damp Squib

The much-vaunted solar eclipse proved to be a disappointment for most people in Thailand this morning, with cloud and rain obscuring the view in many parts of the country. Unlike some other parts of Asia which experienced a total solar eclipse, Thailand was on the edge of the eclipse zone. The best views were reported in the northern province of Chiang Rai where an approximate 60% eclipse was witnessed. Residents in other parts of the country such as Phuket, were hoping to see at least a 20% eclipse, but cloud and rain made it a non-event.
