Thai King Makes Full Recovery from Illness
The Royal Household Bureau have announced that Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej has made a full recovery from his recent illness, but will remain in hospital to aid his recuperation.
The Thai monarch was admitted to Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok in September suffering from a fever and a lung infection. Since that time, the king has only made three public appearances and the health of His Majesty has been the subject of national concern. Every day since he was admitted to hospital, visitors have lined up to sign books wishing the king a full recovery. Most of the well-wishers have been wearing pink shirts which is seen as an auspicious colour for the king’s health. Vast crowds attended ceremonies in Bangkok recently to commemorate His Majesty’s birthday. After the official birthday commemorations, many people congregated outside the Siriraj Hospital and lit candles in honour of the king.
