Thailand on Lonely Planet List of Best Value Destinations
The travel guide, Lonely Planet, has recently announced its choice of best value travel destinations for 2010 with Thailand ranking in the top ten. The Lonely Planet people describe Thailand as “perennially good value” and that as a value-for-money holiday destination, the kingdom “remains tough to beat”.
As Thailand enters the tourist high season, everybody connected with the tourist industry will be hoping that visitor confidence has returned following last year’s political protests which closed Bangkok airport. Those incidents will certainly have made some people think twice about visiting Thailand. Although the internal political shenanigans continue, it does appear that some confidence has returned to Thailand’s tourist sector. The country’s tourist industry definitely needs a boost and so, not surprisingly, the local Thai media has been quick to talk-up the Lonely Planet listing.
