Tourists Still Happy to Visit Thailand

A survey published in the Thai daily newspaper, The Nation, suggests that the majority of tourists visiting Thailand at the moment aren’t too concerned by the political situation. The poll took place last week and interviewed over 500 foreign tourists and business people in Thailand for the first time. The poll reveals that 60% viewed the protests and demonstrations as normal in a democratic system. Half of those interviewed had been affected by the protests mainly because of travel disruption. Nearly all of those questioned (97%) said they would visit again and 99% said they would recommend Thailand to other people.

The survey does appear to back up the fact that most tourists who are actually in Thailand at the moment aren’t too concerned and that the travel advisories issued last week by South Korea and Singapore were over-reactions. It seems that the people who are fretting about whether to visit Thailand or not remain outside the country whilst those actually here are still enjoying their trip.
