Aircraft Released from Bangkok Airport

Airports of Thailand (AOT) have been negotiating with the anti-government protesters who continue to occupy both of Bangkok’s airports. Leaders of the anti-government People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) have agreed that air crew from Thai Airways and other international airlines will be allowed to gain access to over 80 planes which have sat idle at Suvarnabhumi during the present crisis. The planes will be allowed to fly to regional airports such as Chiang Mai, Phuket and U-Tapao but they will not be carrying any passengers. Although there is no immediate prospect of a resumption of passenger or cargo flights in or out of Bangkok, this latest development does at least mean that more services will now be available to and from the other Thai airports which are currently replacing Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang.
