Bangkok Airports Still Closed
Both of Bangkok’s airports, Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang, remain closed because of the sit-in demonstrations by anti-government protesters. There is still no clear indication of when the airports will re-open.
The stalemate will have to come to an end sooner or later and something will have to give. The government say they will not resign, the protesters say they will not leave the airports and the police and army have maintained they will not use force or violent methods. There are conflicting rumours and speculation in Thailand at the moment. Some suggest a coup is imminent whilst others say that the government is about to sack the current army chief, General Anupong, and replace him with somebody who will act decisively to end the protests. This is all speculation, but it could well be that something significant could happen later on today.
