Koh Samui airport has re-opened following yesterday’s accident when a Bangkok Airways plane skidded off the runway during landing. Accident investigators have been at the scene and initial reports suggest that heavy rain and strong cross-winds may have been the cause of the crash. The front of the plane took the impact which resulted in the death of the pilot. The other co-pilot is still in a critical condition in hospital and is expected to undergo further surgery today. Up to a dozen other people on the aircraft received hospital treatment for injuries ranging from cuts to the face to broken legs.
