Thai Airways to Increase Fuel Surcharges

Thai Airways has responded to the continuing rise in the price of jet fuel by passing on some of the costs to its passengers in the form of fuel surcharges. The new increases will take effect from June 25th 2008.

Domestic routes will see an increase in price to cover the charge of US$20 to $26 for each leg of a journey, but it is the international routes which will bear the brunt of the added costs. A flight from Bangkok to Australia will incur a fuel surcharge of US$185 per leg whilst Bangkok to Europe will incur a charge of $210 to $230. Passengers in America, already facing a cutback in services to and from Bangkok, will suffer again as the surcharge to the United States rises to $281.
