Travel Disruption in Thailand
The situation is fluid and things are likely to change very quickly, but here is some current advice concerning travel within Thailand. This information is as of 09.00 Thai time on Monday, April 13.
Train Services Disrupted
Train services out of Bangkok’s Hualamphong station have been suspended. Trains heading for Bangkok have been terminating at Bang Sue Junction. This may well prove to be a temporary measure and there is every chance that things will change during the day.
+++ Updated Tuesday April 14: Services now operating normally in and out of Bangkok Hualamphong. +++
Bangkok Airports Open
Bangkok international airport at Suvarnabhumi and the domestic terminal at Don Muang are unaffected. There is no suggestion that they will be hit by protests with the army on alert and the majority of red shirts in Bangkok concentrated around the Government House and Victory Monument areas. Flights in and out of Bangkok are operating as normal.
Disruption in Other Areas of Thailand
There have been, and will continue to be, regional protests in various parts of Thailand, especially in the north and north-east. There may be added traffic congestion and temporary road closures in various areas of the north and north-east as demonstrations take place at city halls and other provincial offices.
