I stayed at the Bella Villa Hotel on Third Road, Pattaya during a three-day visit to the seaside resort last last month. This hotel is part of a chain and this particular location on Third Road (not far from North Pattaya bus station) is the oldest of the Bella Villa properties. There is also a Bella Villa hotel on Sukhumvit Road, Pattaya (Bella Villa Cabana), one on Soi 4 (Bella Villa Prima) and another in the Naklua area of North Pattaya (Bella Villa Metro). The hotel I stayed at on Third Road is showing some signs of age, but overall it is a decent choice at a reasonable price.
This is a low-rise hotel which also serves as serviced apartments for long-stay visitors to Pattaya. This means the rooms are spacious and equipped with microwaves, cupboards and cooking space. The hotel isn’t new and there are some signs of wear and tear, but generally speaking the rooms are still in good condition. An extra-large bed and generous balcony are nice touches that you don’t always find in more expensive hotels in Pattaya.
My room rate did include breakfast which was standard hotel fare. There are some small coffee shops and restaurants close by if you fancy something different and it’s only a 5-minute walk to the large Tesco Lotus supermarket if you want to stock-up on items like fruit juice, croissants and cereal.
Facilities & Staff
The Bella Villa Hotel has a swimming pool and sunbathing area as well as a small gym and a sauna. None of these areas are particularly large, but they are big enough given the size of the hotel and are welcome additions that you don’t always see in similarly priced hotels in Pattaya. The free wi-fi was a little big sluggish, but OK for browsing the internet and checking emails. The hotel has 77 rooms pleasantly spaced over three floors around a feature indoor garden area. There are no lifts/elevators, but staff are available to help with luggage if required.
The location was perfect for me during my short visit, but might not be ideal for you if you want to be in the heart of the night-life. The Bella Villa is located a 10-15 minute walk from North Pattaya Bus station and a 5-minute walk away from the large Tesco Lotus supermarket. During the day it is quite easy to get to the beach and to other areas of central Pattaya by shared songthaew (10 baht per person). However, in the evening the services are more limited especially if you are coming back from central or south Pattaya. You may need to hire a songthaew (around 100 Baht) or take a motorbike taxi (from 30 Baht up). That might be seen as a disadvantage by some, but if you want a location removed from some of Pattaya’s brasher night-life this is a decent choice for a family stay.
The Bella Villa on Third Road is a good choice if you don’t need to be in the heart of Pattaya or you’ve been to Pattaya before and are comfortable with public transport. If it’s a first time visit or you want to be located closer to the beach or night-life, I would advise taking a look at a hotel like the Sandalay Resort or other more centrally located hotels such as the Bella Villa Metro.
I booked online with Agoda and took advantage of a ‘flash deal’ which meant the price of my standard double room was reduced by around 50% to just under 1,000 Baht including breakfast. That can be the advantage of staying at hotels a little bit further out from the most central areas with discounts often available even during high season.
