Two low-cost airlines have added additional routes providing passengers with more choice when flying internally within Thailand. The services are being operated by Thai VietJet Air and NewGen Airways and see new routes serving Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) and Phuket.
Thai VietJet Air
Thai VietJet Air have added a number of routes since September 2017 and currently fly between:
- Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and Chiang Mai
- Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and Chiang Rai
- Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and Phuket
- Phuket and Chiang Rai
The domestic routes add to services operated by parent company VietJet Air between Thailand and Vietnam. On these international routes there are flights from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Da Lat, Hai Phong and Can Tho. There are also direct flights between Ho Chi Minh and Chiang Mai and Ho Chi Minh and Phuket.

NewGen Airways
At the beginning of December 2017, NewGen Airways commenced operating flights to and from Nakhon Ratchasima (also known as Korat) in north-east Thailand. The new routes are between:
- Nakhon Ratchasima and Chiang Mai
- Nakhon Ratchasima and Phuket
At the time of writing the timetable is:

The airport at Nakhon Ratchasima is located approximately 30km east of the centre of the city.
