At least 15 people have died during the floods and storms which have struck southern Thailand. That death toll may rise following a landslide in Krabi province that has killed at least 3 people with a number of others still missing. The landslide was triggered by heavy rain and run-off from the hills which washed away at least 50 homes.
The Thai navy have been helping to rescue people who were stranded on the islands of Ko Samui, Ko Tao and Ko Pha Ngan. Military personnel have also been called in to help with the landslide situation in Krabi province.
Ko Samui airport has reopened with Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways slowly beginning to clear the backlog of passengers that has built up during the airport closure.
