The resort city of Pattaya is hosting an event to try and break the world record for the longest kiss. With the current record standing at over 32 hours, the Pattaya event began yesterday and will conclude today, Valentine’s Day. Fourteen couples began the world record attempt, but one couple was disqualified after just thirty minutes when the female partner fainted.
The Pattaya event is being held at the Louis Tussaud’s Wax Museum which is a new tourist attraction in Pattaya. The waxwork museum is part of the well-established Ripley’s Believe It or Not! complex located in Pattaya’s Royal Garden Plaza. Ripley’s executives admit the record attempt is a publicity stunt as well as a bit of light-hearted fun. If the world record is broken, the winning couple will win 100,000 Baht and a 50,000 Baht diamond ring.

Bangkok Couple Claim New World Record for Kissing
Organisers say that seven couples broke the previous record with the winning couple from Bangkok clocking a time of over 46 hours. The record has yet to be verified by Guinness World Records.
Strict rules for the contest stated that contestants had to remain in a standing position and lips had to remain together at all times with drinks taken through straws. Bathroom breaks were apparently allowed every three hours, but contestants had to remain embraced whilst contest monitors checked them.
