Bangkok police have arrested a foreign national in connection with the fatal bomb blast at the Erawan Shrine. During an operation carried out in the Thai capital this weekend, bomb-making equipment was found at the room the suspect was staying at in the outskirts of Bangkok. A number of forged Turkish passports were also found at the address although the nationality of the suspect has not yet been confirmed. Thai authorities also believe the suspect was involved in another incident the day after the Erawan Shrine bombing.
Bangkok police officials say the man was involved with the network that planned the bomb at the Erawan Shrine, but is not thought to be the actual bomber. The hunt continues for the ‘man in the yellow t-shirt’ who was seen on CCTV images leaving a backpack at the shrine moments before the explosion.
