The bodies of two British tourists were discovered on a beach on the island of Ko Tao on Monday morning. They have been named as David Miller, 24, and Hannah Witheridge, 23. Thai police say David and Hannah suffered severe injuries with a garden hoe found close to the scene believed to be the murder weapon. The UK Foreign Office said, “The embassy are urgently seeking information from the local authorities and consular staff stand ready to provide assistance to friends and family at this tragic time.”
The island of Ko Tao is located just to the north of Ko Samui in the Gulf of Thailand. On Monday night, local residents gathered on the beach where the bodies were discovered for a candle-lit vigil and to offer prayers.
